"07 McKenzie River Rafting Trip
Some organizations take their employees on "retreat". Some firms find "team building" exercises useful. Here at REI we prefer to have six hour water fights ... we find that it's a great way to take out pent up agression. We scheduled Jeff Helfrich of Tightlines to provide the weapons and be our referee this year and headed out on the McKenzie River for a day of team building, strategy planning and good old fashioned fun. Over 40 employees and family members participated in this year's exercise ... I think we were all winners.
Baseball
Reynolds Electric was proud to field a team in the City of Eugene Men's Slow Pitch league during the summer of 1999. Team captain, Marvin Menge, with the help of Malcolm Rubin, organized the team. They recruited Joe, Thatch and Bill from REI and rounded out the roster with friends of the team members. The opponent of the last game of the season turned out to be the team that we were tied with for first place. Max's Tavern. At the end of nine innings the Reynolds Electric team was on top and earned bragging rights and a three tiered first place trophy
Whitewater Rafting
During the summers of 1998 and again in 1999, Reynolds Electric employees and their families were treated to a whitewater outing on the beautiful McKenzie River. Jim's Oregon Whitewater provided all of the equipment, form the paddles and water cannons to an experienced guide in each raft. We put-in at Paradise Campground and paddled to a wonderful, four course, catered lunch at Jim's facility in McKenzie Bridge. After some volleyball, basketball and horseshoes we continued downstream to test our new paddling skills at "Redsides Rapid". Several of us took an unexpected swim and got to see the bottom of the McKenzie River here. After re-grouping we loaded up the water canons and made sure that nobody got to the take-out dry. This was a great opportunity to "play" together and meet each other's families. We are looking forward to doing it again, maybe on the North Umpqua next time.
Christmas Party
Here's a quick look at our 1998 Christmas Party at The Downtown Athletic Club. We had a great gift exchange that included everything from "teddies" to screwdrivers.
Another Christmas Party
The crew and their spouses surprised Jack & Ellen by arriving in costume. Can you figure out who's who?
Check this out !!!
For the past few years, we have asked our employees to bring something to the party that they would like to receive if they were a soldier in Iraq. We collect the stuff, package it up and get it into the right hands for delivery to our soldiers that are unable to spend the holidays with their families. This year we actually got proof that all these goodies were making it into the proper hands. The following "thank you" note was sent to us from Iraq.
